Inappropriate 80s movies: Jim and Teal are Up The Creek.
Sunday Sep 15, 2019
Sunday Sep 15, 2019
This week's episode is a tribute to those trashy teen sex comedies of the early 80s; It's 90 minutes long! Jim and Teal begin the program with a shout out to a new listener. Then they dive right in to the 80s experience by discussing a documentary on Amazon Prime called At The Drive-In, about the popular Mahoning Drive-In, in LeHighton, PA.
In the past few years, the Mahoning has become a legendary spot for Drive-In enthusiasts to catch their favorite films of the 70s, 80s and 90s on 35mm.
Soon, this discussion dovetails into a classic staple of the drive-ins in the early 1980s, the teen sex comedy. Always R-rated, and filled with gratuitous nudity, Jim and Teal re-examine this genre for how inappropriate it all was. From disturbing compromised sex scenes in films like Revenge of The Nerds and Private Lessons, to the sketchy behavior in John Hughes films, Jim and Teal soon realize they are going to have to come back to this topic in future episodes.
